This year I’ve been participating in Ali Edwards’ monthly Day in the Life documenting challenge.
I’m all up to date on my monthly recording – photos and details – but my Blurb book is way behind. In the meantime, a little glimpse at our OCTOBER 2013 Day in the Life!
I keep a running Word document on my computer, and simply type up a timestamp and running thoughts for that moment. I’ve included some throughout the photos below.
Note: This is not nearly ALL the photos or ALL the text I recorded last Wednesday.
But it is representative…
(italics are comments I added recently that didn’t make it in the original document)
Wednesday, October 30, 2013 – A Day in the Life – Team Schubert
Andrew had to start a new schedule today, so we set the alarm for just before 7am. Which is still before sunrise this time of year. He got up and got right in the shower, I fed the cats and started the coffee (in the dark).
7:12a looks nice outside. Grab the Suns blanket and settle in to the brown chair for some morning work.
7:15a first thing I do when opening my computer is make sure there aren’t any emails for Maggie that I need to respond to.
7:20a after email, a quick glance at Facebook and Twitter. Bad habits, but found a link for horror movies for us to watch next October. Check my google calendar – I should be working on my novel right now. The coffee just finished.
Andrew left for work a little before 8am. Lots of traffic.
9:15a Just hit my word count goal. I’m at a good spot to know where to pick up tomorrow, so it’s shower time. 1211 total today. 16,114 overall. Still a long way to go to hit 80 or 90,000
Going to try to leave Fang in the chair. Such a cutie
10a: downstairs. I really need to unload/reload the dishwasher. Making coffee, refilling the water. I should eat something too, but I’m so bored with all the food in the house.
10:30 unloaded the dishwasher and made myself some Top Ramen. Now will be reading while I eat. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
1151a: scheduled 5 posts for O&U for next week, now going to go over the new design for The Finishing Manifesto so I can give Allie tweaks.
1230p Making a cup of coffee in the Keurig and loading the dishwasher. My back needed a break from the chair. + a candy cane since I need sugar and that’s all that is in the house. The fridge is so sad right now. But we’ll be out of town Saturday and Sunday, and have to buy meals out while we do so it’s best that I just eat what is in the house. Even if that is tuna, frozen veggies and top ramen.
1p squirrel outside. Very exciting.
1:15p SNL and photo editing. I want to be all caught up on PL by next week. At least have all my photos ordered.
I’m on season 10. It’s weird. Billy Crystal, Christopher Guest and Martin Short. Definitely a strange season.
4:05p 3 weeks of PL done. Still 5 or 6 to go to be caught up. But I’m tired. Going to read for a little bit in bed where it’s lovely and warm. Andrew texted that he’ll probably be home about 7
Andrew took his boss’s car to the car wash
5:40p Andrew says he won’t be hungry when he gets home so I’m going to eat without him. Frozen burger and frozen veggies.
The girls follow me downstairs. Continuing to read while it cooks
740p: Andrew finally got home. Brought me hot apple cider from Starbucks too! What a fun treat!
746p: Andrew washed his feet and now we’re settling down with our apple cider to watch Walking Dead – season one finale.
9:30p almost done with the first episode of season 2 but Andrew has to leave. I head upstairs with my water and book while he heads to the studio for his session
The girls fall asleep in the middle of the bed – so cute, but they’re leaving me very little room.
11p finished my book. Good night.
Andrew had a recording session with Steppe People, working until 2 or 3 am.
