I set up TravelScrap HQ live online with a bunch of people watching and asking questions!

Done:

Basic setup:

  • some basic keyword research done
  • registered URL (travelscrapbooking.net)
  • updated nameservers in domain management to direct to my HostGator hosting company
  • added domain to hosting account
  • installed WordPress (really simple with HostGator)
  • created email address in HostGator
  • installed email address in Mac Mail
  • installed Google Analytics
  • created filter to not see my visits
  • set timezone and permalinks, made comments unmoderated

Social Media:

Design:

  • settled on color palette
  • designed logo
  • researched and purchased WordPress theme (X)
  • installed plugins (Askimet, Editorial Calendar, Yoast, Contact Form 7)
  • customized theme

Content:

  • created top nav pages (Free/newsletter sign-up, Resources, Contact, About)
  • created 1 post and drafts for others
  • determined editorial calendar schedule
  • email blast draft written

Marketing:

  • emailed friends about site and asked that they use #travelscrapHQ when posting
  • created mailing list (in MailChimp)
  • installed list sign-up
  • created Pinterest boards
  • posted first image to Instagram

Monetization:

  • installed affiliate ads in sidebar
  • added disclosure page and note to sidebar
  • created Amazon affiliate TravelScrap tracking ID

Still to do:

  • Write/create opt-in freebie
