BUILD is my gigantic blogging ecourse that I worked on for the first half of this year (it’s self-paced so you can sign-up any time). It was a giant undertaking with a million different steps and parts and ton of sessions making up 6 different modules of content all about building an online platform that can help you get what you want.
All that to say …. I shouldn’t have a favorite session, but I totally do.
I am so proud of the pillar content session of BUILD, I want to share a little snippet with you*
So far in this email series we’ve discussed why your blog content is important, what your message is and what you should blog about.
This week, let’s focus on individual posts.
Running with the same metaphor as your blog as your online platform, you should have a small handful of strong, reliable, always applicable posts that will serve as your pillars. These will be posts that are solidly in your niche and covering your main keywords. These will be posts that have a very strong takeaway. These will be the posts that you find your readers most sharing, most linking to and most identifying your blog with.
If you write about memory keeping and travel, your pillar content would probably be an ‘ultimate guide to scrapbooking on the road’ or something similar. If you write for your handmade children’s aprons company, your pillar content would probably be something like, ‘top 10 reasons to cook with your child.’
This week, brainstorm 1-3 big, “ultimate” pillar content posts that you can write and promote regularly. These will be staples of drawing traffic, links and love from around the internet.
In the ecourse we also discuss how to identify your pillar content, what to do with it once you have it and what NOT to do with it.
