Sometimes BRAVE means doing something brand new, sometimes it means doing that thing you’ve been putting off for months.
Every Sunday (or so) I want to post about something BRAVE-ish I’ve done recently – to keep myself accountable to actually DO something AND to remind you being brave is not always lion taming and hang-gliding.
I went camping for the very first time as an adult.
Note: If you get the L&R newsletter, you already learned about this last Monday.
Andrew and I went to Yosemite with Campfire Kam and her boyfriend to go camping for the weekend….. Andrew’s and my very first time camping together (even though we’ve been together for 12+ years). And my first time camping in probably 15+ years.
The aches in my calves and the scratches on Andrew’s leg …. Those are all just evidence of being brave. We could have just stayed home last weekend. We could have saved the gas money and done work around the house and then watched Netflix just like we always do. But instead, we decided to take a (teeny tiny) risk and go camping together. I lived unshowered for a few days (I love showers and my thin hair can’t handle not being clean). I hiked almost 4 miles (half of it uphill). I learned what is required to protect your food and campsite from bears.
All stuff outside of my comfort zone, so I count it as brave.
