I signed up for Ali Edwards’ One Little Word workshop….
Every month she posts an exercise or other project – so far I’ve just done January’s.
I spent some time over a couple days thinking about what I wanted to do … and then another couple days to really figure out how to do it….
And ended up with this. These small cards are about the size of baseball cards and are in my One Little Word binder back to back in a single page.
The washi tape is all Freckled Fawn. The typeface is Tw Cen MT Ultra Bold. The doodles are my own – just black marker on white cardstock.

Between One Little Word and my year of brave series, I’m really trying to focus on being brave in 2013.
Other brave things I’ve found ….
- Josh Groban’s new song Brave (love him. Especially when he does comedy)
- created a BRAVE pinterest board
- review of Daring Greatly (this book should arrive from the library soon)
- on implementing new ideas
- Brene Brown’s TED talk on vulnerability
- want to build confidence? Do hard things
- being scared and doing it anyway
- signed up for Go Mighty
- discomfort zone: how to master the universe
- are you being brave?
- show up and be seen
P.S. Elise posted an update of her One Little Word book a week or so ago and my wheels started turning…. What else can/should I add to my book? Excited to make it my own! Check out other One Little Word projects from Megan and Kam.
I love having the same word as 2 other people I really admire (Kam and Elise)! So interesting to see how we all approach it differently

I love that you filled in writing for some of the cards and left some of them blank so you can leave the meaning of those phrases open!
I’m also finding it fun to see the three of you with the same word.
thanks
I’ve written a bit more since I took this photo, but a lot of this year I have not idea what it will look like so it’s hard to know what my word will mean then
Ok, that TED talk, I mean WOW. I’m so glad you shared it!! My OLW this year is Courage (so similar but different to yours, Kam’s, & Elise’s) and I’ve been following all three of you as you explore your word and its impact on your life. I love that you do the weekly recap – what a great way to track your progress! But really, I am so so so glad you shared this TED talk. I know I’ll be writing some of the quotes down from it to put in my ProjectLife Binder alongside my OLW month cards. Thank you!!!!
I’m so glad! I’m picking up the book today – I’ve heard only good things about it.
Can you seriously stop finding and sharing such amazing links/articles/posts/books? My browser is always full of tabs after I read your blog! Goodness…
But seriously, I love that our interpretations of Brave are different…what a subjective word, right? Alex and I were talking about it last night: How I think a Firefighter is brave, but she probably just thinks she’s doing a job like anybody else. And others may think that I’m brave for rock climbing, but because I’m not afraid of it, I don’t think it’s very brave of me to do. It’s all about our comfort zone vs. our saftey zone, right? And doing things that scare us
