Class Description

Come join Becky Higgins for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend some time with her during the last quarter of 2012. As Becky goes about preparing for the holidays, organizing around her home and documenting her family’s story along the way, she’ll be sharing ideas to inspire you, tips to motivate you, and real-life suggestions on how to cultivate the life you want.

Whether you’re a long-time Project Lifer or you’re just now hearing about Project Life, you will love learning about the guilt-free philosophy behind this system of memory-keeping. While Becky will give you plenty to think about and do during the 12 weeks of this workshop, she firmly believes that there isn’t a person that exists who “does it all” — and it should be the last thing that we expect from ourselves.

Becky’s class includes:

  • An exclusively-designed set of Project Life cards (3″ x 4″ and 4″ x 6″) that will not be available anywhere else!
  • Access to a pre-classroom with a presentation from Becky upon registration for class
  • Colorful instructional handouts with step-by-step instructions for each lesson/project
  • Voice messages, slideshows and videos throughout class
  • Three live chats with Becky
  • Welcome notes from Becky in the classroom
  • Reminder emails when the classroom is updated with new materials
  • Message board to share your thoughts with your classmates
  • Private posting gallery to share your work and view the work of your classmates

If you’re already doing a Project Life scrapbook this year, this seems like the perfect complement … A way to remind yourself of the REASON you are taking all these photos and journaling all these memories. A good base for living a story worth recording and cultivating a life you’ll want to preserve.

I’m excited to dig in!

Here’s how to enter this giveaway to win your spot in Project Real Life:

Leave a comment below and give me your BEST tip for cultivating a good life

Here’s mine: My favorite way for cultivating a good life is to just give yourself TIME. I always have something I can be doing (cleaning, writing, backing up photos, etc). But as much as I want to get that stuff done and cross things off of my to do list…. my favorite days always end up being the days that I just let myself be lazy with my husband. Watching a new TV show with Andrew or lounging around the living room reading a novel. Granted, this doesn’t happen very often but these are the days that our life together is made of.

Be sure to include your NAME and EMAIL ADDRESS for a valid entry.

Giveaway closes TUESDAY, September 11 at midnight PT (with the winner randomly selected and announced shortly after that).

If you don’t win – or you don’t want to wait – click here to register now

Note: While I have not received any monetary compensation for hosting this giveaway, Big Picture Classes is providing me with a seat in the class and I am an affiliate. That said, all opinions and Project Life affection are completely my own.

My best tip – it’s horribly cliche, but don’t sweat the small stuff. I am the only one who notices that strange spot on the carpet or scuff mark on the wall. Don’t spend all your time on what’s small and not playing or just talking with the kids or your husband.

Part of cultivating is loving life and not stuff. Our culture is so in love with shopping, aquiring, collecting and owning stuff. This obsession fills our life with clutter instead of meaning. Often we buy things to deal with emotions or show another person how much we love them, disconnecting us from our real emotions. Instead replace that love for stuff with a love for life by:

    - Geting outside and feeling nature, appreciat the beauty around you
    - Giving experiences as gifts and not stuff
    - Spending more time with others and not your things
    - Disconnecting from your things (that shirt in the back of your closet or that book you don’t plan on reading again, what is holding you back from letting it go?)
    - Realizing the underlying emotions that cause you to shop

At the end of your life you will look back on the experiences you did or didn’t do and moments with people you shared, not the stuff you had.

my tip is to pencil in or schedule time if that is your issue. I put on my calendar an hour or two over the weekends to have some scrappy time. Also i carry an assorment of journaling cards and pens with me, that way when the idea/list/though occurs i can write it down quickly. I am also using a student planner to document daily happenings for project life, that way when i get to my schedule scrappy time, i don’t forget what has happened.

My tip for cultivating a good life is making a few good friends and cherishing those relationships and putting in a real effort to make those relationships as good as they can possibly be.

One of the things I’ve really been focusing on the past few years is to stop obsessing and worrying about the things I have no control over and can’t change. This has made a world of difference to my stress level and happiness level. Less stress frees me up to do the things I enjoy, spending time with family and friends, crafting and traveling when I can.

Is slowing done. With two kids under two that can be hard sometimes, but I try to remind myself of that. Live in the moment, this part of my life will not last forever. Thanks for the chance to win.

My tip for cultivating a good life is to slow down and enjoy every minute because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

what works for me is always remembering who I am and what is most important and then act

  • Misti September 5, 2012 at 2:52 pm edit

Staying connected to my friends and my creativity. Giving myself guilt-free time to craft and just as much time to spend with my friends and family.

My tip for cultivating a good life is listening yourself :)

  • Brenda Haskin September 7, 2012 at 4:52 am edit

To cultivate a good life you must live intentionally instead of just letting life drag you along. We all get 24 hours in a day we can choose to squander them or use them to move us closer to our goals and dreams no matter what they be.

Oooh I would SO love to win this! My best tip for cultivating a good life is scrapbooking! It always makes me realize how good my life really is when I see it laid out in front of me. :)

  • Roni Nelsen September 7, 2012 at 12:32 pm edit

Slow down and be PRESENT it’s my word of the year. Sometimes where to caught up in preserving the memory we forget to just live in the moment. I have to remind myself with this with my kids all the time. Slow down and just enjoy it.

I can sum it up in this famous quote:
“Wherever You Are, Be All There.”
I am a multi-tasker. I can often be seen doing so many things all at once. And this year I realized I was never really living my life the way I would like to – I was just breezing through it, trying to finish as many things as possible at the soonest time. I think cultivating a good life is really BEING THERE in the moment, whether it be just snuggling on the couch with the kids watching cartoons without having to tinker with your phone every five minutes checking mail, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (totally guilty on doing that!). It’s being there, all of yourself – mind and body – that you get to really live a GOOD life.

my best tip is to take care of yourself. get enough sleep, take long hot showers, and make time JUST FOR YOU.

  • Allie September 7, 2012 at 6:40 pm edit

    Oh, how exciting!

I’ve been wanting to take this class since they announced it!

My best tip for cultivating a good life (and this really isn’t a “tip” since I’m still working on it) is to focus on the things that make you happy and making your life a GOOD one. Focusing in on the negative things or things you don’t enjoy will not make your life a good one. Working at a job you hate will not make your life a good one– doing what you love for 40+ hours a week is a big part of cultivating a GOOD life– not only a GOOD life, but a GREAT one!

Cooking is my way of cultivating a Gold life, the smells coming out of a Kitchen, sitting at the dinner table together is really a simple but powerful memory down the road.

  • Wendy September 8, 2012 at 9:34 am edit

I would love to take this class! My tip for cultivating a good life would be: remember, you only have an opportunity to experience a moment once, so make the most of it — make a memory, make it count!

  • Jamia September 8, 2012 at 4:56 pm edit

Cultivating a good life is having a relationship with GOD! You can never fail, you will always be on top!
