OK, this isn’t so much a DIY project as much as it is a ‘look-what-I-put-on-a-book-ring’ project ….
A little background ….
We got married in November 2005. … Then in May 2008 we moved from Arizona to California and put 85% of our belongings into storage. Including almost ALL of my scrapbooking supplies, paraphernalia and memory-related STUFF.
Well …. while unpacking my office boxes, I found our stack of wedding RSVP cards!
Now, I don’t know if any of you kept your wedding RSVP responses …. but we did ours as a MAD LIB so they were TOTALLY worth saving! Although, why we saved the envelopes I have no idea ….
So the first thing I had to do was take all the cards out of the envelopes!
I’ve been collecting various materials to use for minibook covers …. and I happen to have some small-ish pieces of matboard from the days when Andrew managed a custom frame shop. They always had tons of scraps from the inside bits of the matboard – cutting out the hole for the image.
I found 2 matching pieces.
That’s basically the entire reason for choosing this color matboard – I had 2 pieces the same color!
I trimmed them down a bit and punched a hole in each board …
While taking the RSVP cards out of the envelopes I got a good look at all of them and decided the best way to make sure that none of the FUN text got missed, would be to bind the book with one ring in the middle of the left side.
The stack ends up maybe just over an inch high …..
But then I have to figure out what I’m going to do with the cover ….
Luckily, while unpacking I ALSO found my box of foam stamps!
Side note: I love foam stamps. … They’re not too expensive, I get to use paint with them (in any number of colors which is less expensive than ink pads), they generally come in much larger sizes than rubber stamps AND I can reuse them over and over (versus stickers).
Related: As I mentioned, my scrapbooking supplies were in storage for 4 years, so these foam stamps are AT LEAST that old. And so I have no idea what brands they are or where you would get them …. Leave me a comment if you know!
In the box with the foam stamps were some bottles of paint, so I test a couple colors on a scrap of matboard to figure out which paint I’d use on the cover…… Good thing, too, because my initial color choice (that brown) looked TERRIBLE on that matboard.
I used this circle-border-stamp to create a basic pattern in white ….
Then simply printed RSVP in gold paint on the front….
Ta da!
(go back up to the first photo to see it in a rough scale)
Just simply bound with a small 1″ bookring….
And just for fun …. here are some examples of some of the fun MAD LIBS we got from family and friends:
I love it
I’ve set up a basket in my office for all the minibooks I’ve made and WILL make, so now whenever I want to I have these super fun, loving and supportive “notes” from our favorite people!
What do you think?

Oh my gosh, I seriously was thinking while reading this post, I wonder what I wrong in our RSVP ~ and then you posted it!! Too funny!
What a great DIY project for all those fun RSVP cards!!
Love it!
I love the mad libs for one, and the cute responses.
I might steal this idea for my someday wedding.
Oh and I think the foam stamps are by Making Memories a few years ago, I have a similar set.
Thanks Mel … I had a vague memory of those being Making Memories stamps, but not sure
Fun! It would be fun to have this mini book out in your living room so people could read what they and others wrote. Are they in some kind of order so folks could find theirs if they wanted to?
LOVE THIS!! Instead of having a guest book, I had everyone write on 4bar cards. Before the wedding, I punched a small eyelet through each card. WELLL, when I went to put it on a binder ring, I realized the eyelet was too small! You’ve inspired me to get those suckers out of the box, make those holes bigger and onto the binder ring!
