Yes, that is me …. probably 1988 or 89 or so on vacation with my family in Mammoth, CA
I would like to point out in particularly my amazing outfit and fashion sense
Pink t-shirt. Pink sweatpants (love it). And … the best part …. what I believe are SILVER tasseled moccasins.
Awesome ….

The other highlight of this photo?
My fantastic illustration skills …. If you look closely at the left hand page (that is visible in my shadow) you can clearly see what is a *perfectly* realistic and accurate …. raccoon.
I guess. I can only tell it’s probably a raccoon because it has a striped tail….. On a log…. Dear lord, who knows.
I have vivid memories of spending a lot of quality time with my little sketchbook.
My mom has always been a good illustrator … She taught me how to use straight-ish lines to look like tree bark. She taught me about shading. She always encouraged me to draw.
I was a busy serious artist when I was little – nowadays I can draw well enough to kick butt at Pictionary, though.
Were you always an artist?

That is so awesome- I love old photos. How neat to look back and see your talents in their early stages.
Great photo
I was an artist too, from an early age. I would write fantastic short, but suspenseful, stories on our family’s Tandy home computer we bought at Radio Shack.
Very nice! Yes, I was always an artist. There is an early drawing of mine of a bicycle from the rider’s perspective- front fender, handlebars, seat, rear fender. I don’t think the teachers understood, but my mom did.
LOVE THIS, but I have GOT to find the books full of drawings you did in Kindergarten. You actually drew furniture in perspective and women with the correct anatomy (if you know what I mean). We were blown away by your attention to detail and realistic drawing!
I’ll try to find them in your keepsake box and scan a few.
