As you probably know ….. I kind of love learning about the blogging and the business of blogging.

Darren Rowse  – of Problogger fame – is running this short, easy series of tips and actions to help boost your blog.

Most of them are so obvious and common sense that I can’t believe I didn’t think of them! (that’s why HE is running Problogger. Not me).

So, this weekend …. I have a 4 day weekend! I worked Labor Day at my ‘day job’ and instead of the extra pay, I’m taking 2 paid days off (Friday and Monday). VERY excited about having the extra time at home.

Quality time with my computer while Andrew works….

Quality time with my computer doing a couple of those things that can dramatically improve my blog that I should really stop putting off.

I think he’s up to nine mini tips by now, but I need to focus on just 2 – the 2 that are most manageable with everything else on my to do list; I have plans to get to the rest soon.

first: Check for Hot Spots

This image below is my top content/page stats for the life of Lemon and Raspberry.

The idea with this little blog boost is to take a look at which of your archives are getting the most traffic (and are STILL getting traffic months later), and edit/adjust/tweak/optimize those posts.

Example:

Based on these stats above, I will definitely want to go to my page for Better Photography in 3 Steps and make sure my contact info is there, maybe add links to other photography resources on my site, and possibly even add info re: my photography business.

Also …. Just looking at this (off the top of my head) .. it might be a good idea to add info and a link to Tell Its Story onto some of those DIY posts. Or maybe add a link to The Finishing Manifesto to the post about my planner.

Just ideas …. What do you think?

also: Create a Resources Page

Um. Yes. SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ALREADY.

You may have noticed I have a ‘Resources‘ page ^  …. But don’t look at it!! It’s embarrassingly empty! I really (really really) need to focus on this over the next few days….

I will primarily be linking up past posts (like this one on business resources or this one on photography resources). Just to get them all in one place.

But I think I’ll also link up some of the software, websites, vendors, products that I myself use so you can get a leg up too (using this page as a rough model)

Let me know if there are specific questions/resources you’d like me to include.

And then, of course, once the Resources page is (mostly) up to date, I need to start linking to it from other posts.

It’s a never ending battle, this blog building.

What will you do this weekend to boost your blog a bit?

I am currently reading (and reviewing) an eBook that is coming out next week. It’s about getting or keeping your blog mojo, and you will love it! I’m terrible about these kinds of things, but you and Kam are so good about these little reminders. This post, plus the eBook are what I need to do. There’s always room to make good move to great, right?!
