One little word – 2010

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

With 2010 winding down, I guess it’s time to take a look at all that I did and all that I meant to do (and all that I failed to do).

You probably already know, I kind of *adore* Ali Edwards….. I’ve followed her blog and her work for years (and years).

And yet 2010 was the FIRST time I decided to participate in her One Little Word challenge.

For 2010 my word was Risk.

This is what I said at the beginning of 2010 about Risk:

In 2010 I will RISK failure and rejection in view of hopefully earning a fulfilling reward

I think I did …. pretty OK.

Which is my way of saying, better than I expected but not as well as I hoped.

Things I did in 2010 that felt like a RISK

Those are the big ones – and just those 3 things was a TON of time invested ….and RISKED.

I’m pretty good at talking myself OUT of anything – from buying candy to going to a social event to staying home sick from work.

The goal this year was to not allow myself to find excuses for doing things that COULD be amazing (even if I had to risk spending money, or being in an awkward social situation, or spending time I would never get back, or or or ….).

Believe me – TOTALLY worth it.

Even the photography workshops – I have now learned that photography workshops aren’t really for me and can save myself the $1000 in the future :)

Launching Lemon and Raspberry? Totally worth it.

This site launched May 3, 2010 and has become so much more than I expected just in these last 7 months…..

And now for 2011 – I will again set my sights impossibly high and be all the better for it.

Revealing and discussing my 2011 One Little Word on Saturday at the Blog Party!

What was your One Little Word for 2010? How did you do?

P.S. Tempted to sign up for Ali’s Big Picture class for One Little Word, but I’m sure I wouldn’t make the time to catch up and then I’d just feel guilty for spending the money.

I think you did great Amy…I love watching you put yourself out there and succeed, and it’s inspiring to me when I feel like I’m too self-conscious to state my opinions or follow what I want to do, it’s comforting to me to know that you have my back and support my decisions. I can’t wait to see what 2011 will bring to you and your endeavors. Also, I love you.

You’re always an inspiration in how you put yourself out there without worrying about what other people think. I still think about the newspaper that you and Sarah created for our street when you were in elementary school and how you held a pig snorting contest with your friends. Crazy stuff, but everyone had so much fun.
