First, know this: I have no idea what I’m doing. As I’ve previously admitted.
I’ve never been much of a private-thoughts journaler (chronicling my life on our family blog is not really the same thing, right?).
I’ve not ever considered myself an artist-artist (you know … paint, skill, etc).
I also am not 100% clear on what (if any) is the difference between art journaling and personal/about me type scrapbooking.
That said …
I did complete 3 pages recently. ….
One was inspired by a documentary Andrew and I watched recently, one by my recent reading/blogging/watching Harry Potter, and one by a loose print of a picture of Andrew and I that I happened to find.
I ALSO went out and got me some colored pencils. Partly because the paper that I got the notebook in isn’t really meant for watercolor, partly because I wanted some more options for color (I have markers and crayons somewhere in storage).
I’m not in love with these pages, but I am proud of myself for trying …. even if it doesn’t come out perfect.
I need to exercise that creativity muscle, keep risking “messing it up” …. even if “it” is just a page or 2 of this art journal.
This afternoon I’ll be posting a few art journaling resources that I’ve found ….
(and started to go through but barely scratched the surface.

Cute! I love your HP page. We’ve seen it once and I recently told a friend I’d go with her if she couldn’t find anyone to see it with.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I just started Art Journaling not too long ago….you can see the pages I did here…

My favorite thing to do is hand stitch on paper and use tape from happytape.com (I think that’s where I get it). Happy journaling!
Hey Amy, One of my friends at church does some cool art journaling. She’s even having a class in Dec if any of your readers live in Phoenix. Here’s a link http://arttvisionz.blogspot.com/2010/11/upcoming-event-for-locals.html
If you do a search on her blog for “journal” you’ll see some cool stuff. She also has an Etsy shop, but doesn’t have any journals on it right now.
By the way, I love the Mt. Everest page! Great reminder that those big goals are attainable.
Hiya Amy! I art journal ALL the time! I actually have one that I carry around in my purse for when a moment strikes my fancy to get creative! Your pages look fantastic! If I could give you a tip for art journaling it would be to be BRAVE and HONEST. When you’re able to let go and be in the moment when you’re journaling the end result is oh so beautiful (mentally, emotionally, and aesthetically)! Here is a link to my blog that features some pages http://shannonbear.wordpress.com/tag/art-journal/
Happy Creating!
