Take it to the next level

What are your goals?

Are they ambitious? Are they audacious?

Or are you risk-averse and just want to play it safe? Stay comfortable? Not move forward?

Nope, didn’t think so.

Which begs the question ….

How are you going to take it to the next level?

Western culture – America in particular – has trained us into an attention span of ZERO with an expectation for immediacy.

Microwaves, Skype, drive-thrus, 24 hour news cycle. Constant and immediate anything you could possibly desire.

Which is exactly why setting impossible goals and trudging up that hill to reach them is so remarkable. It rarely happens. People get bored. They get tired of having to put forth effort. They stop recognizing the small improvements they are making and end up just convincing themselves that they are wasting time.

Only those who are willing to commit even when it is difficult are going to be able to take it to the next level.

Set aside the time

If you’re going to create something that is going to make you a household name, you first have to create it.
Carve out time for yourself. For brainstorming, or just being quiet. For creating and planning. For tying up loose ends and banging out that huge chunk of your to-do list. Make the time. Turn off the TV. Get up half an hour earlier. Anywhere you can find it.
Set aside the time that you need for that monster goal.

Take REAL steps

Telling someone about all the great things you are going to do is not the same thing as actually doing them. Identify what the next step is. The actual next step. Then do it. Make that phone call. Write those 1000 words you’ve been promising yourself. Source that fabric for your product.

Let go of the fear

You very well may fail. At least once. If not more.
You may also succeed.
Both of these outcomes can be scary.

But you’ll never make it to the next level if you allow the fear to hold you back.

Acknowledge it. Recognize what you are afraid of and why. Then recognize how that fear is keeping you down. Holding you back. Keeping you from your fullest potential, taking it to the next level.

I completely believe that you can do this.

What are some of your big big goals that you are going to start working on?
